Introducing Wiley Reid
AMERICORPS VISTA VOLUNTEER
Born and raised in the Texas Hill Country, the Lone Star State has been my home for most of my life. However, after completing my Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art from the University of North Texas, I decided it was time to head out for something new; I joined the Peace Corps and served as part of the first-ever cohort of volunteers in Montenegro, a nation in the Southern Balkans. When the COVID-19 pandemic forced the Peace Corps to evacuate all volunteers back to the US, I considered ways to serve communities domestically and applied to become an AmeriCorps VISTA.
I am honored to have a role as an AmeriCorps VISTA in the Cody community, partnering with Forward Cody to create a coworking space to help address the entrepreneurial needs of the folks here. On a fundamental level, we are seeking to ‘make space’ to foster communal spirit in the way we work and relate, and to create community landmarks where people can come together, ideas can flow, and connections can grow.
